    Abstract

Software R&D organizations are trying to develop the high-quality software R&D products by making software R&D processes. But software R&D organizations have difficulty on applying software R&D processes to varied software R&D domains. The reason many software R&D organizations get in this trouble is due to the dependency of the knowledge and experiences of process engineers. Therefore, software R&D process tailoring that systematically defines a specific software R&D process for each R&D project is necessary. We suggested a commonality and variability analysis method with procedures and templates for the software R&D process tailoring that can establish software R&D processes which will be applied for certain software R&D project. If software R&D organizations apply a proposed method in this study, the software R&D organizations can have an effect on increasing the number of opportunities to reuse software R&D processes and reducing the efforts to reapply software R&D processes.
