Abstract

This paper is to propose a scheme for information retrieval of Web documents with various types of hyperlinks. The proposed scheme is based on the distinction between incoming and outgoing links by directionality as well as the distinction between direct and indirect links by directness of links. Various types of hyperlinks have different impact on enhancement of retrieval effectiveness. The experiment results show that the scheme improves about 44.8% in 11-point average precision when right combinations of weights are given to the different link types.
