Abstract
One of the issues at the nuclear industry in the republic of Korea is disposition of spent fuel which is generated from Korea's Nuclear power plant. In the Korea, sixteen PWRs and four PHWRs are operated. From the staring of Kori NPP(Nuclear Power Plant) operation in 1978, spent fuel is temporarily stored in the site. The national policy about spent fuel management is divided into 'disposition', 'recycling of spent fuel' and 'Wait and See' according to their internal and external circumstances. Korea's policy about spent fuel management is a publicizing step. For a sustainable development of nuclear industry in Korea, intermediate storage or disposition/recycling of spent fuel is urgently needed. For development and preparation of a task in back-end fuel cycle area in Korea, expected scenario of mid-term and long-term management of spent fuel was performed. From this scenario, mid-term and long-term project to conceive a new business plan was performed. Also, we think and survey a requirement to carry out the back-end fuel cycle business. And we mainly focused on the spent fuel of PWR But, national policy which is related with nuclear industry is affected by other dominant nuclear supplies status and international organization which is related with nuclear industry. So, deducted scenarios have many assumption and uncertainty. Finally, the promising scenario can be derived from an optimization process by considering lots of factors.
