Abstract

Abstract Five polyphenols were isolated from the ethanolic extract of the fruiting bodies of Phellinus baumii. These compounds were identified by various spectroscopic methods as hispidin, hypholomine B, inoscavin A, davallialactone, and phelligridin D. All compounds inhibited noncompetitively H1N1, H5N1, and H3N2 neuraminidase activity and reduced the amount of virally-induced cytopathic effect (CPE) according to an MDCK cell-based assay.
