Abstract

The preparation of chemically-crosslinked small intestinal submucosa (SIS) and its biocompatibility and histological characterization for bio-interactive wound dressings and tissue engineer scaffolds were discussed. It was found that SIS sponges were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectrometers (FTIR). The biocompatibility of the SIS sponges were performed by MTT assay. The results show that crosslinked SIS sponge were economically feasible and also show good proliferation and biocompatibility for NIH/3T3 cell.
