Abstract

The thermochemical conversion of oils and bitumen were studied in a fluidized bed pyrolyzer and a catalytic pyrolyzer. The fluidized bed pyrolyzer consisted of a MFC, a gas pre-heater, a fluidized bed reactor, a screw feeder, a quencher, and an electrostatic precipitator. In the catalyst reactor, MMZ ZSM-5, ZSM-5, MESO C12, MCM-41 catalysts were used. At 400°-550°C and Uo/Umf of 3:1, maximum oil yield was 70%. Oil composition over C20 was remained in the fluidized bed pyrolyzer. Oil content from C5 to C9 was 0.6-9.5%. However, oil content from C5 to C9 was 14-49% at the catalytic pyrolysis and oil content over C20 was not detected over 500°C. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Spring National Meeting and 5th Global Congress on Process Safety (Tampa, FL 4/26-30/2009).
