Abstract

This paper proposes a rate one Quasi-orthogonal space-time block coding (QO-STBC) algorithm which provides improved partial diversity gains, and also can be linearly decoded at the receiver. It has been proved that we cannot design a complex orthogonal space-time block code (O-STBC) providing full diversity and full transmission rate with more than two antennas. Whereas the QO-STBC which obtain higher transmission rate at the cost of orthogonality and partial diversity gain may degrade the performance. In this paper, we propose a new encoding algorithm for QO-STBC with three transmission antennas by rotating the channel correlation matrix. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can provide improved performance.
