Effects of working environment and community resource on job satisfaction of workers who work at community child center of rural area in Korea

The study examines how working environment and community network resources influenced reported job satisfaction among workers working at Community Child Centers in rural areas of Korea. Working environment included the factors of workload satisfaction, pay satisfaction, and vacation allowance. Community network resources included the availability of community networks, employee participation in networks unrelated to the work of the Community Child Center, and employee participation in networks related to the work of the Community Child Center. 160 workers working at 98 Community Child Centers in rural areas of Jeollabukdo province, Korea, were surveyed. Multiple regression analysis with SPSS20.0 was used for statistical analysis. The major findings were as follows: pay satisfaction had the greatest positive effect on reported job satisfaction and employee participation in community networks related to the works of the CCC also influenced job satisfaction positively. Employee participation in community works unrelated to the work of the CCC had a negative effect on reported job satisfaction. In line with these results, possible implications of this study were discussed and concrete recommendations were made in order to improve job satisfaction of workers working at Community Child Centers in rural areas.
