Abstract

The coupling behaviour between CdTe/ZnTe quantum dots (QD) and a quantum-well (QW) structures grown by using molecular beam epitaxy with a ZnTe thin separator barrier was presented. Photoluminescence measurements were caried for investigating the interband transitions and for determining the activation energies in the QD and QW. The higher activation energy of the QDs coupled with QWs is the result of the tunneling of the carriers via a thin separator layer from the QWs to QDs.
