Abstract

Evaluating essay questions is very time consuming and somewhat boring for teachers. Giving timely feedback to students can be very difficult in numerous cases. Additionally, each student's answers to essay questions tend to be similar to everyone else's, with the exception of a few word changes. It is clearly inefficient for the teacher to examine all of the students' answers. In this paper, we introduced a method to identify similar community structures among student answers using a similarity matrix and network visualization.
