Abstract
A highly water-soluble fentanyl citrate (FC)-loaded poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) microspheres (MSs) was developed for local anesthetic applications. The release of FC in vitro was successfully performed over 15 days with close to zero order release pattern as experimental conditions with 20% of initial FC content, 0.4 wt% Al stearate, 1 wt% Span 80, 0.7ml of acetic acid, and 1 wt% of PLGA concentration. The surface morphology and cross-sectional view of FC/PLGA MSs prepared with acetic acid glacial, Al stearate, and mineral oil were non-porous, hollow, and porous, respectively.
