Ga-67 Uptake in Thymic Carcinoma: Utility of Ga-67 Scintigraphy in Patient Management

Abstract

A patient with thymic carcinoma underwent Ga-67 scintigraphy, and increased uptake was noted in the anterior mediastinum and bone metastases. After the completion of therapy, Ga-67 scintigraphy showed no radiotracer uptake, although a residual mass was observed on computed tomography (CT). However, a new lesion was seen on Ga-67 imaging in the left lower lung field, corresponding to a suspected metastatic pulmonary nodule that was seen on CT. Before and after treatment, Ga-67 scintigraphy appeared to be superior to CT and was clinically useful in the management of the patient.
