Abstract

The polyethylenimine (PEI) was utilized as a gene carrier, conjugated with lactose bearing galactose group for hepatocyte targeting and grafted with poly(vinyipyrrolidone) (PVP) as a hydrophilic group to reduce cytotoxicity of PEI. The cytotoxicity of galactosylated PEI-graft-PVP in HepG2 cells was evaluated using MTT assay. The contents of galactose ligand and PVP by ninhydrin assay and 1H-NMR were analyzed. It was shown that the complex formation of Gal-Pei-PVP with DNA was confirmed by electrophoresis.
