Abstract

The introduction of genes or cells resulting in the indirect elimination or direct killing of tumor cells by the gene therapy was presented. Glucosylated polyethylenimine (GPEI) was synthesized with varying substitution degree of tumor-targeting gene carrier and its potential was examined in lung cancerous cell line and in vivo. GPEI was observed to to have small particle size with neutral surface charge and it had no cytotoxic effect on cells. It was also observed that the transfection efficiency of GPEI in the presence of serum was not much decline, while that of unsubstituted PEI was drastically declined.
