HF RFID reader antenna generating horizontal magnetic fields for casino applications

Abstract

A planar loop antenna producing a uniform horizontal magnetic field to the antenna plane is presented. It consists of a pair of two turn spiral coils to which currents are supplied alternately. The antenna is suitable for an RFID reader antenna that is installed in a dealer's chip tray to monitor gaming chips in a casino.
