High-efficiency pulse-width modulated full-bridge converter for low-voltage battery charging applications

Research output: Contribution to conferenceConference paperpeer-review

Abstract

This paper proposes a high-efficiency pulse-width modulated (PWM) full-bridge (FB) dc-dc converter for automotive battery charging applications. The proposed PWM FB converter has a wide zero-voltage switching (ZVS) range with a current doubler rectifier (CDR) for low-voltage battery chargers. Compared to the conventional phase-shift modulated (PSM) FB converter, the proposed converter has advantages of reduced switching losses, minimized circulating current, and improved power efficiency. Experimental results for an 1.0 kW prototype circuit verifies the performance of the proposed converter.
