N2 - In previous research, encoded microparticles have been developed to authenticate products, providing features such as small volume and invisibility. The encoded microparticles can be used in a variety of fields such as, anti-counterfeiting, pharmaceutical identification and traceability, food traceability and product identification. Conventional microparticles are fabricated by mixing optically functional materials such as, fluorescent nanoparticles, colored dye, and transparent nanospheres. [1, 2] Unfortunately, multimaterial fabrications, including those with fluorescent materials, have a few limitations for bio-applications due to their toxicity and incompatibility with biological systems.
