Abstract

Horizontally-directed, bilaterally-symmetric, increased linear uptake connecting the L5 vertebra to the iliac crest was incidentally demonstrated on bone scintigraphy in a 51-year-old woman without any radiologic signs or clinical symptoms of spondylitis or arthritis. Plain radiography and computed tomography (CT) revealed ossification of both iliolumbar ligaments in the corresponding sites. This uptake is thought to represent a normal variant on bone scintigraphy.
