Abstract
A method for carbon nanotube (CNT) functionalization by exposing CNTs to hydrogen atoms was presented. The effect of hydrogen functionalization was demonstrated by fabricating a CNT-metal junction on a silicon substrate by electron-beam lithography, where one half of each CNT was buried in SiO2 layer of 100 nm thickness and the other was exposed to air. The exposed part of the CNTs was functionalized by atomic hydrogen and the half of the CNTs buried in SiO2 remained unaffected.
