Abstract

This case report describes 3 cases of necrotizing dermatomycosis caused by Chrysosporium sp. related to Nannizziopsis vriesii in captive green iguanas (Iguana iguana). The infection was diagnosed by microscopic examination, fungal culture, sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer ribosomal RNA gene, and histopathological examination. This report suggests that the fungus can induce severe infections in green iguanas.
