Abstract

We achieved a negative dispersion of birefringence using self-organized smectic liquid crystal (LC) and polymers. The smectic LC was used as two dimensional template and the polymers were formed between the layers of LC. no was more smoothly decreased than no and the birefringence was increased with a longer wavelength.
