Abstract

Osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow stem cells (BMSC) was analyzed using small intestinal submucosa (SIS) sponges. SIS sponges were fabricated by crosslinking with 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC). SIS powders were dissolved in 3 per cent (v/v) acetic acid aqueous solution for 48 hours and freeze dried. It was observed that all morphology of SIS sponges was regular and exhibited inter-connected pore structure.
