Abstract

Scanning tunneling microscope (STM) was used to illuminate the different pathways for the catalytic oxidation of CO. CO was positioned at various distances from an oxygen atom (O) on the Ag(110) surface at 13 K. The vibrations of CO in its different environment were successfully monitored.
