Abstract

We synthesized Pd@PdS core shell nanocubes (NCs) and examined their structural, optical, and electrochemical properties using various analytical techniques. We also demonstrated them as visible light photocatalysts for degrading methylparaben (MEP). The Pd@PdS core shell photocatalyst achieved almost complete removal (∼100%) in 120 min, whereas Pd nanocubes showed a lower degradation efficiency (∼80%). This is attributed mainly to enhanced light absorption and charge transfer at the core shell interface.
