Abstract
A procedure to synthesize a new mesoporous platinum-carbon nanocomposite was described. Using a porous rotating disk electrode technique, the effect of methanol addition on oxygen reduction was studied. It was observed that the metal loadings of the anode and cathode were 5 mg cm-2 and 0.6 mg cm-2 respectively. It was stated that the higher dispersion of metal will decrease the amount of metal required to obtain the same catalytic activity per unit mass.
