Abstract

Bulk polymer-stabilized vertical alignment mode with low operating voltage and fast response time for flexible LCDs has been challenged For this purpose, transverse bend alignment (TBA) mode with plastic substrate was used The proposed device in which the polymer network is formed in a bulk of vertically aligned LC layer shows low operating voltage less than 40 V even with use of low dielectric anisotropy LC (Δε = 7.4), a very fast response time of 2 ms (on + off time) and also keeps image quality although the cell is curved.
