Abstract

Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis is a common method used for proteome profiling to separate, visualize and identify new proteins. A high resolution protein separation on 2-D gel is important to obtain good reliable protein spots that do not overlap. Pig is an important animal species used for meat production; its proteomics studies have covered both physiological and biomedical applications. In this study, proteome profiling of heart and lung samples of Pig by cup loading two-dimensional gel electrophoresis resulted in high resolution 2-D gels with clear protein spots, and conditions were optimized for identifying maximum number of protein spots.
