Radio resource allocation in multibeam GSO satellite communication systems for mobile packet services

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a synchronous multibeam satellite system using an adaptive radio resource allocation method for downlink mobile packet services. The proposed system minimizes interbeam interference and thus shows a high throughput and spectrum efficiency. The simulation results, using a Ka-band mobile satellite channel and various packet scheduling schemes, show that the proposed system improves the beam throughput by about 2 times over the conventional satellite-based cellular system.
