Abstract

Binding energies of ⁴He atoms physisorbed on graphite (0001) surfaces were re-determined with improved resolution and precision. Energies are several tenths of an meV deeper than found in previous determinations, and an additional high-lying level is resolved. These results are in good agreement with recent theoretical calculations.
