Abstract

This work presents the simultaneous reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and crystal growth of ZnO to produce flower-shaped ZnO doped reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets by hydrothermal process. As-prepared samples are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission spectroscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and photolumanence spectroscopy. It is found that highly crystalline ZnO nano-flowers are effectively doped on the surface of RGO sheets. The unique properties of RGO sheets provide the decreased rate of electron-hole separation in ZnO. Therefore, as-synthesized ZnO/RGO composite may become a potential photocatalyst.
