title = "RFID tag on PCB in UHF band",
abstract = "This paper presents a tiny RFID tag which can be directly mounted on a PCB in electronic products as a solution to tracking PCBs within the electronics industry. The designed RFID tag consists of the tag chip, two capacitors and the 3-turn rectangular loop antenna. The RFID tag with the loop antenna utilizes a ground plane of a PCB as an ancillary radiator by an inductive coupling. Because the tag does not necessarily require direct connection to a PCB ground plane it can easily be mounted on a PCB using normal adhesive or sticky tape. The tag is 1.8 × 10 × 1mm in size and the fractional bandwidth for a return loss of more than 3dB is about 4.2\% at 920 MHz. The reading distance of the tag ranges from 0.3 to 0.7m depending on a size of a PCB ground plane. Two capacitors of 3.6 and 3.9pF are used in series for matching between the 3-turn loop antenna and tag chip.",
