Abstract

The smart media and SNS make a contact among users more easily, and create a strong social relationships based on efficiency, instantaneity, and mobility. The easiness and availability of relation-maintaining, however, would cause unexpected problems. The analysis is centred here on the practice of Korean undergraduates students via a depthinterview which the results were as follows: The first, Korean undergraduates used the smart media and SNS in order to record their own daily life. The second, They used SNS to share their common life and communicate with their friends or strangers/unknown users. And the last reason for using the smart media and SNS was to get a concern and support from friends and acquaintances. The other important point of this research was the sense of community resulting from the perceived social support. The sense of community was defined as the sense of belonging that each members have an analogous characteristic, and the perceived interdependence. The users updating their informations and minutiae frequently more felt a perceived connectedness and the sense of community than other users who updated unfrequently or did not update. As a result, the sense of community and social support has an positive effect on the psychological well-being and satisfaction with life.
