Abstract

We propose an improved spectral phase interferometry for direct electric-field reconstruction (SPIDER) technique for the characterization of ultrashort laser pulses with substantially better sensitivity. We improved the conventional SPIDER by applying the technique of crystal dithering, which has been used in the frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) technique. We analyzed the effectiveness of the proposed method theoretically and confirmed it experimentally.
