Abstract
A new single-stage battery charger is presented for light electric vehicles (LEVs). The proposed charger increases power efficiency by lowering conduction losses. It uses no full-bridge diode rectifier for power factor correction so that conduction losses can be reduced. A high efficiency, high power factor, and low cost can be obtained for LEV battery chargers. The feasibility of the proposed charger is verified with a 300W prototype converter.
