Abstract

The synthesis of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and polyester (PE) block copolymers as thermoreversible materials was discussed. In the study, di- and triblock copolymers composed of PEG and PE were synthesized by ring opening polymerization in the presence of stannous 2-ethyl-hexananoate or acid as catalyst. The resultant block copolymers showed sol-gel transition temperature at the range 20-80°C for various concentrations. The results indicated the application possibility of these copolymers as thermoreversible materials in the polymeric drug carriers or scaffolds.
